It’s about noon, and I’m just getting up for the day. I think I’ll stay in my pajamas for another couple hours, maybe I’ll brush my teeth in a bit. No, I’m not a spoiled trust fund baby or a lazy unemployed free loader. I have a job, and it pays well, I just work from home. There are so many different home bound jobs available. I get to make my own hours, get dressed when I feel like it. My commute is all of a flight if stairs. I don’t have any office drama to deal with. And, to me, the most important benefit is that I get to be home with family.
That being said, it’s not all fun and games. I do work, and I work hard. I’d be willing to bet that I work harder than most people I know. When I’m in work mode it’s like being in a trance, and everything else has to be blocked out. I push myself until the task at hand is completed in it’s most perfect form. Being able to work from home requires a tremendous amount of dedication and motivation. It is so easy to become distracted from work when you aren’t in a typical work environment. So, if you have trouble staying focused and tend to be a procrastinator, you’re better off finding a traditional job. But, if you are like me, extremely driven and dedicated to what you know needs to be done, then maybe a stay at home pajama uniform job is for you.
The first thing you will need is a computer with good Internet service. Almost all home based jobs today are based on some form of Internet use. If you have a poor connection, you will not be able to work efficiently. So invest in a good service provider. It also helps to have a basic knowledge of how a computer works incase of any malfunctions so you can fix things quickly yourself. I would also highly recommend having a mobile connection to the Internet so that when you are away from home you can check up on work every now and then. Remember, having the privilege of working from home comes with a lot more responsibility that includes maintaining your business at all times.
In terms of what kinds of positions are available, there are so many options out there. Free lance writer, marketing, sales, tech support, education, web site design and maintenance, financing, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) specialist, data entry, ebay, the list could go on and on. The important thing to remember is that you really need to prove yourself an expert in your field or else you will be passed over for someone more qualified. Also, be ware of online scams. Unfortunately for every legitimate opportunity, there could be at least 5 illegitimate ones out there. If you choose to work for an online company be sure it is one that has full support, is known for always paying on time, and will give you references from other employees to check out how good they really are. Any company that is listed in the Better Business Bureau is a safe bet.
As with any job, it will take time to adjust to your new way of working. But believe me, if you are patient, and dedicated you can truly make a satisfying living while working from home.
